Peter Lypyn
All kidding aside, there is one man I remember from Holy Ghost that was, what I consider, the best of the best.
That man is Msgr. Peter Lypyn.
Msgr. Lypyn told me once, that under the Nazi occupation, they made sport of him by kicking him in the back. He had to deal with back problems for life, after that.
Under Nazi occupation, remember, Slovacks were considered the worst of vermin. Slovacks were despised. Msgr. Lypyn knew what it was like to be despised.
So next time you laugh at someone for real because they eat ketchup on a pyrohi, next time somone thinks the children are too loud and unruly, next time someone makes fun of someone for wanting to put on a spaghetti supper for the church, well just consider…
Msgr. Lypyn, under Nazi Occupation probably wished he had a spoon of ketchup. Msgr. Lypyn perhaps wished he could hear the sound of children happy, under the Nazis. Under the occupation, Msgr. Lypyn perhaps dreamed of having something like spaghetti.
Yes, consider Msgr. Lypyn's life and what he saw. We had a lot to criticize and be miserable towards others during the 60’s and 70’s at Holy Ghost didn’t we?
Vichnaya Pamyat Forever Msgr. Peter Lypyn.
